Vasil Naydenov (Cyrillic: Васил Найденов) is one of the most famous Bulgarian songwriters and pop singers of the last 50 years. Naydenov was born on September 3, 1950 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He studied music at the Faculty of Popular Music of the Bulgarian Academy of Music, where he honed his skills on the piano, trumpet and other instruments. He has participated in many musical groups. For example, between 1973 and 1979 he was the frontman of the famous Bulgarian progressive rock group “Diana Express”. However, he is best known for his solo career, which began in 1979 with his first hit “А дали е така?”. Despite strict government regulations on popular music, his career quickly gained momentum in the 1980s as he landed hit after hit such as “По първи петли” (1980), “Любовта продължава”, “Мелодия на годината”, “Tелефонна любов” (all three released in 1982), “Междучасие”, “Чудо” (both 1983) and “Сбогом казах” (1985). In 2019 he wrote his new single “On a Random Train Station” (2019). After three sold-out concerts in London in the last eight years, Berlin is Vasil’s next stop.
